1 Peter 5:6 (KJV) “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you in due time.”
Any time you fast, your flesh is going to throw a tantrum. “King Stomach” does not want anything to do with fasting. Right now you’ve probably already thought about quitting a million times. You probably have already wrestled with watching other people partake in some of your favorite meals.
Although your flesh may scream, we have to choose to force our flesh into submission. We must continue to force our flesh at the altar and say, “Lord, I deliberately choose to humble myself with this fast! I know if I humble myself, you will exalt me!”
When you humble yourself, God promises His grace. 1 Peter 5:5 says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
His grace is His unmerited favor. His grace is a supernatural ability to do that which seems impossible. Humility intentionally places our flesh at the altar and although we may feel weak, that’s when God’s strength takes over.
Keep going! Your moment of being lifted up is coming. Your moment of stepping into a new level of intimacy with Jesus is right around the corner. Your moment of conquering addiction is right there. Your moment of shaking off the discouragement, crossing over the mountain of doubt is closer than you think. Let’s continue to humble ourselves, fast, seek God, and watch what He does in your life.
Much love, Ps Aaron Lucas
